The new production plant is integrated harmoniously into the surroundings – the residential area is not impaired. Buildings and outdoor areas are interconnected with adjacent properties. WITTENSTEIN employees benefit from the urban environment: short commutes and excellent access to public transportation.

In addition to using 100% renewal energy, numerous other eco-friendly factors have been incorporated: noise and exhaust, waste and CO₂ emissions, water and sewage. Rainwater is collected in a cistern and used for the restroom facilities, for example. The indoor climate is equally important. Constant dehumidification of the air in the production areas ensures optimal climatic conditions.

Moreover, fully climate-controlled production guarantees stability of the production processes and thus also exceptional technical precision. The overall concept of Future Urban Production is exemplary. This is attested by the award bestowed on it by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). As the first building of its kind, the entire plant, including office areas, has been awarded the Platinum Certificate.

Compared to conventional plants, the plant in Fellbach currently saves 35% on energy costs per square meter – despite fully climate-controlled production.
