Purchasing Manager

Responsibilities

Responsible for all relevant requirements concerning technical processes for purchasing of mechatronic systems that are planned, procured, and placed in service. Works closely with sales, product development and design, product management, quality management, logistics, and production, Monitors process developments, researches potential to set cost reductions. Works closely with purchasing group to reduce costs for acquiring products and materials.

  • Lead inquiries and negotiations for project and production work.
  • Monitor the capacity of suppliers and assure accuracy of parts needed.
  • Successfully negotiate purchase agreements.
  • Participate in make-or-buy decisions.
  • Research alternative back-up resources.
  • Perform supplier qualification in coordination with applicable managers.
  • Perform cost analysis for purchased products and materials.
  • Ensures process stability and supply availability.
  • Ensure proper inventory levels of components.
  • Identifies suppliers in coordination with the material group management.
  • Partners with legal counsel to review supplier contracts and supplier audits.
  • Recognize the causes of problems and solves them.
  • Support the product development process through the different product stages from first sample to start of series production, to ensure at the right time the right product requirements are in place. Consult with engineering for manufacturability and associated costs.
  • Support Quality Assurance in development of quality/inspection plan.
  • Responsibility of assigned products, purchasing parts in accordance with project deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering and three years' experience is required; or equivalent working experience.
  • Strong background in mechanics, electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics is required.
  • 3 - 5 years of work experience
